In 2023, tourism continued to strengthen in Harghita County. During the year, a total of 223,072 tourists arrived in the county, spending 523,791 overnight stays in local accommodation establishments.

Tourist traffic was relatively balanced throughout the year, with the highest visitor numbers recorded during the summer months, when the number of tourists arriving in the county increased significantly. The summer season continues to play a key role in the region’s tourism, while the autumn and winter periods also show a stable flow of visitors.

According to statistical data, tourism performance in 2023 showed a significant increase compared to the previous year. The number of tourists rose by 9.69%, while the number of overnight stays increased by 15.28% compared to 2022. This growth clearly reflects the strengthening of the region’s tourism offer and the continued interest in the destination.

The more than half a million overnight stays indicate that Harghita County is becoming an increasingly important tourist destination, where the natural environment, spa resorts, mountain excursion areas, and rich cultural heritage all contribute to attracting visitors.
